Evan Cox is the engineering manager for the Foundational Modeling team within the Trust organization at Airbnb. His team works on machine learning infrastructure and applied machine learning techniques to scale out Trust to all of the hosts and guests on Airbnb.
Before Airbnb, Evan was a data science manager at the startup Metromile, where he helped scale the company's user base 1000x, applying machine learning to geospatial, telematics, and fraud prediction problems, for which he's been awarded four patents.
He began his career at Microsoft, as a software engineer working on core relevance and ranking problems at Bing. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science with a focus in Artificial Intelligence, and a B.S. in Symbolic Systems with a focus on Decision Making and Rationality from Stanford. In a past life he performed research on programming languages, logical systems, and general game playing.
