Markus Nagel is a machine learning researcher at Qualcomm AI Research in Amsterdam and leads a team focused on model efficiency. He holds a BSc in computer science from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences and a MSc in artificial intelligence from the University of Amsterdam. Before joining Qualcomm Technologies Netherlands, Markus worked as a Machine Learning Specialist at Scyfer, a startup founded by Prof Max Welling which was acquired by Qualcomm in 2017. His research focuses on compression, pruning and quantization in order to make models more efficient during inference. He published over 8 papers in top-tier machine learning conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, and ICCV including several oral presentations. He and his team also wrote an invited chapter on neural network quantization for the book “Low-Power Computer Vision”.
