It’s no secret that artificial intelligence has evolved alongside theories of the brain. By definition, AI involves machines performing tasks that our brains would otherwise execute, and so it makes sense that these programs are modeled after our own minds. An interesting extension of this work is that machine learning models are now helping to inform the way we understand the brain.
